Natural wine is gaining in popularity in different wine regions around the world. Here in California, a small band of winemakers are making big strides. What is natural wine you might ask? In layman's terms, it's the process of growing wine grapes and making wine with no manipulation. No chemicals in the vineyard, no filtering or fining in the winery. No intervention from the wine making team. They just let the grapes grow into what they're going to be and let the wine ferment into what it's going to be. That's a risky proposition for some because winemakers aren't controlling anything so they run the risk of a sub par final product. But that's also part of the allure. It's completely natural, and in the world of wine that has value when you think about terroir.
